Maraton Maramureș

Maramureș Marathon is a mountain race held in the picturesque landscapes of Baia Mare and its surroundings on June 13, 2026. The routes include a 13 km run and hike, a 21 km mountain half-marathon, and a full 42 km marathon, each offering challenges and spectacular views. Participants will cover sustained ascents, trails along the Firiza dam, and areas with impressive panoramas of the local peaks. The event is suitable for both experienced mountain runners and those seeking a trail running experience in nature.

GPX files are available for download for the routes. The marathon route includes a 21 km loop through scenic areas such as Limpedea, Groapele Chiuzbăii, and Fântâna cu borcut. There are aid stations and checkpoints along the course, and the routes are marked with distinctive signs. Volunteers guide competitors along common and branching trails. Trail routes include mountain terrain, technical paths, and mountain ascents, emphasizing the natural beauty of the area. Participation includes official materials and access to event facilities.
