The Roșia Montană Marathon is a celebration of nature, history, and cultural heritage, held in the heart of the Apuseni Mountains, in the commune of Roșia Montană. The varied routes, which include mountain trails, local roads, and paved sections, offer a unique experience for both mountain runners and street runners. The event includes races for all ages, including the Children's Race, which takes place on age-appropriate routes in the historic center of the town. Participants can admire natural landscapes and centuries-old architectural heritage along the way.

The Children's Race has different routes depending on age, from 700 meters for children 0-10 years old (with a parent/guardian required for 0-6 years) up to 2.3 km for children 13-16 years old. The start and finish are in the Central Square of Roșia Montană. The event also includes other races: Marathon 42.16 km, Half Marathon 25.2 km, and 10 km Cross. Participation kits can be picked up in the Central Square the day before, and the program includes cultural activities and concerts. The children's races include three different routes (700 m, 1.3 km, 2.3 km), with prizes and medals for participants. The event takes place on June 21, 2026, in the historic center of the commune, promoting the cultural and ecological values of the area.
