Vrancea Montană Run

Vrancea Montană Run is a mountain-running event held in the Vrancea Mountains, in the commune of Păulești, offering an authentic nature experience for runners of all levels. The competition includes two main races: an 11 km cross-country race with approximately 350 m of elevation gain and a 21 km half marathon with 550 m of elevation gain. Both follow varied, unprepared routes combining forest roads, trails, and rugged terrain. The event is organized by the Vrancea Montană Association with the support of Păulești Town Hall and promotes respect for the natural environment and fair play among competitors. Participants also contribute to a worthy cause by supporting the rehabilitation of Romania’s wildlife.

The routes are not closed to traffic, and participants must observe traffic rules. Each race has a time limit: 2.5 hours for the cross-country race and 4 hours for the half marathon. The organizers provide mountain-running training guides. The first 350 participants received free registration at previous editions. The start and finish are on the plateau next to the Păulești Mountain Rescue Base.
